There have been countless deaths due to heart attacks to people who have been by themselves, or have been in the middle of nowhere, with no medical assistance available. The following is not directly related to dentistry, but important enough to be shared to all, says Danbury, CT. dentist Jay M. Marks, DMD.
Picture this, a person is having a heart attack, their heart is not working properly and is not pumping blood, with its vital oxygen, to the brain and rest of the body. Without help, in about ten seconds, the person feels faint and will pass out. Can someone really save themselves during a heart attack? CONTINUE -->
This cycle of deep breathing and hard coughing should be done in 2 second intervals without stopping, until help is available, or until the heart seems to resume its normal functional beating again.
The deep cough movement puts a squeeze on the heart, that lets the heart circulate the blood and go back into a regular rhythm cycle. By breathing deeply, you put oxygen into the blood, which is needed by our brain and body. This technique should hopefully allow time for professional help to take over.
