Dr. Marks explaains that foods such as hard fruits and veggies actually help to clean our teeth. Examples are celery, carrots, apples, and even some softer foods like lettuce- scraper off the bacteria and dental plaque from the outer surfaces of our teeth (enamel). Eating these types of foods on a daily basis helps keep this cavity and gingivitis causing Goo from adhering to our teeth.
Fresh fruit helps form and stimulate saliva, which is our natural defense mechanism against dental plaque by neutralizing the acids produced, and washing away loosened plaque. Another liquid, water, is helpful in this respect, and it is a good idea to rinse with water after finishing meals. If using tap water instead of bottled water, fluoride is documented to strengthen dental enamel.
Foods that Strengthen Teeth
Red meat such as steak provides the mineral phosphorus, which helps by strengthening bone and tooth enamel. Dairy foods contain a lot of calcium and Vitamin D, which also strengthen enamel and bone.
Food to Avoid
Many foods contain sugars, which support cavity causing, and gum irritating bacteria, which can cancel the benefits of the healthy foods. Therefore it is wise to moderate the amount of sugar consumed. The conclusion is, if you go on an exotic trip to paradise, and don’t take me
