Today's dentistry can replace missing teeth by dentures, bridges, and implants. But how will teeth be replaced in the future, possibly before there is a real Star Trek Enterprise space ship?
Researchers have found a lot of different stem cell types in dental tissues. They have been able to grow tooth parts, and even have grown a complete tooth roots. The roots have been embedded in the jaws, and then built up and covered with crowns. It is even possible to obtain stem cells from a wisdom tooth, or baby teeth. These can be put into tissue banks, and used if needed in the future! We may someday put the tooth fairy out of business! If you have any dental questions, or want a consultation, please CONTACT US.
